Hard Data Leads to Big Money for Polluted Towns

On an otherwise reasonable evening in July, more than 1,000 people packed an auditorium in Boulder, Colorado,  for the culmination of the 2014 Unreasonable Institute. They came to watch 11 ventures present their solutions to some of the world’s greatest challenges.

Watch one of those talks here, as we hear from Unreasonable Institute fellow Flaviano Bianchini, founder and director of Source International. His Italy-based company provides scientists and scientific tools and methods to communities threatened by waste and pollution from the extraction of natural resources. Armed with the resulting data, these communities can then press for compensation and stricter oversight.

Source International has operations in North America, South America, and Africa and has, to date, helped communities bring in tens of millions of dollars in compensation and as well as marked reductions in health issues.
