Lorna Rutto: Lorna dreams of a world where everyone has access to basic amenities such as food, water, shelter, security and environmental safety. Born in Kaptembwa Slums in Kenya, Lorna completed university and began professional life as a banker. She soon felt an undeniable calling to use her talents to create a better world for the children still living in the slums. She’s passionate about eradicating poverty and creating job opportunities for Kenyans. In 2011, Lorna was selected as the Cartier Sub-Saharan Africa Laureate.

EcoPost: Ecopost is a business that utilizes waste plastic to manufacture plastic lumber and posts which provides an alternative to timber. Since 2009, the company has so far created 40 direct and over 500 indirect jobs to people in the marginalized communities, withdrawn over 1.5 Million kilos of plastic waste from the environment, manufactured and sold over 30,000 plastic poles generating more than US$ 300,000 in Revenue. EcoPost has thus saved over 350 Acres of forests further mitigating climate change. EcoPost won the 2010 Bid Network Nature Challenge Award, 2010 SEED Award and the 2009 Enablis Business Award.
