Leveraging AI-driven alternative data to assess rural and underserved customers, unlocking access to insurance and financing.
Cherehani Africa is transforming the microfinance and insurance sector by leveraging AI-driven alternative data to assess rural and underserved customers. Through its network of satellite veterinary laboratories housed in repurposed shipping containers equipped with AI-powered diagnostics, Cherehani Africa is bringing animal health services closer to rural communities. These labs generate digital health certificates that help unlock access to credit and insurance, linking livestock health directly to financial inclusion. The model improves farmer productivity by enabling timely access to vaccines and diagnostics while simultaneously expanding financial access. Its lab network in Kenya now spans 10 counties, reaching within 50km of over 500,000 smallholder farmers who were previously underserved.
