Colab is a civic engagement social network that enables citizens to connect with government and each other. It exists to improve the city-dweller's quality of life by enabling people to solve daily city issues, improve their relationships with legislators and participate in the decision-making process of local governments. Through the Colab website or mobile app, users can report issues where they live -- such as a pothole or broken street lamp -- suggest urban improvements, and rate public services. Colab also offers governments a SaaS platform for management and engagement tools. To date, over 500,000 people have used Colab in 150+ municipalities across Brazil, reporting more than 200,000 problems solved. In 2013, Colab received the Best Urban App of the World Award.
Colab is on a mission to empower citizens and the public administration to collaborate through digital technology in order to form a simpler and more transparent society. We are helping to build a society based on trust between citizens and government, where public management is fluid, efficient, connected and co-created and citizens can access public services on the palm of their hands.
