Three Wheels United (TWU) is a tech-enhanced finance company that provides affordable loan and leasing options for light Electric Vehicles (EVs). They make auto-rickshaw EVs an accessible option to India’s 175 million light vehicle drivers, improving driver livelihoods while addressing the global climate crisis. Their data-driven technology, called Prayana, combines tailored loan management and asset management, allowing them to offer competitive loans while removing barriers for uptake, de-risking their lending, keeping operations costs and default rates low, and improving driver income. Originally built in partnership with Microsoft (which has continued to be a partner through TWU’s expansion), their platform analyzes data via machine learning models that predict behavior changes and trigger actions to prevent and dissuade defaulting behavior. Via its mobile app, drivers improve the understanding of their loans and repayments habits while collection agents can maintain a high quality of larger portfolios efficiently.
