Unreasonable Mentors

Alina Truhina

Founding & Managing Partner (SEA/ME), Utopia Capital Management

Alina is an Unreasonable Mentor. Alina was part of Unreasonable Impact UK & Europe 2018, and has advised over 11 Unreasonable companies.
Alina Truhina is the Founding & Managing Partner of UTOPIA’s Southeast Asia and Middle East Fund, where she leads both The Radical Fund and A-typical Ventures. The Radical Fund is a climateTech early-stage venture capital fund backing bold founders across frontier and emerging markets, while A-typical Ventures is Qatar’s first international early-stage VC and venture studio focused on building and investing in the Middle East. This marks Alina’s fourth investment vehicle, following over a decade of building three funds and two venture studios across emerging markets.
Previously, she co-founded and scaled Founders Factory Africa—one of the continent’s most active investors—backing over 55 startups. She also co-led SPRING, a gender-lens accelerator that supported more than 75 ventures across East Africa and South Asia. Before entering the startup and VC ecosystem, Alina spent over five years at the World Bank.
Recognizing the urgent need for early-stage climate capital in Southeast Asia and the demand for hands-on strategic support in the Middle East, she launched The Radical Fund and A-typical Ventures to create new models of entrepreneurial growth in frontier markets—including venture studios in partnership with governments and sovereign investors.
Alina holds an MSc from the Geneva Graduate Institute and a BSc from the University of Melbourne. She is part of the Milken Institute's Young Leaders Circle.
