Alisdair Gayne is Head of EMEA, Investment Banking at Barclays, based in London. Alisdair is a highly experienced, senior banker who leads a number of key relationships with some of our most important clients, across a range of sectors, and advises on strategic financing and M&A transactions.
Alisdair joined Barclays in 2009 to set up and establish our UK Corporate Broking franchise which is now ranked #2 by number of FTSE350 clients. In 2016 Alisdair assumed sole responsibility for Barclays UK Investment Banking business which is now established as the leading franchise in the UK market, advising UK and global companies on equity and debt financing, risk management and strategic M&A in the UK. In 2024, alongside his UK role, Alisdair was appointed as Co-Head of EMEA Investment Banking, expanding his responsibility beyond the UK and across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Prior to joining Barclays, he worked at Morgan Stanley, CSFB and James Capel. In his early career in Investment Banking, he was a top rated equity research analyst covering the electricity sector. Before embarking on his career in financial services, Alisdair was a management consultant where he advised on the development of wholesale electricity markets in Ukraine and Northern Ireland.
