French-Japanese inventor, entrepreneur and environmentalist based in Singapore. Director of ocean robotics company Scoutbots, and Founder of makerspace network Makerbay Limited and Foundation. Cesar is dedicating his life to explore and protect the ocean with open technologies. MakerBay is enabling communities to create local social and environmental inventions for global impact.
Cesar is an Associate Professor of Design and teaches in Ocean Engineering at SIT (Singapore Institute of Technology). Former MIT Researcher and Project Leader, TED Senior Fellow, GOOD 100, IBM Figure of Progress, Unreasonable at Sea Fellow, Shuttleworth foundation and Ocean Exchange grantee. Cesar won the Ars Electronica Golden Nica [NEXT IDEA] (the highest recognition for works at the intersection of arts and science) with his Master graduation project from the Royal College of Arts, London. Cesar has been teaching Masters in Design & Environment at the Goldsmiths University of London, Versailles architecture School in France and lectured around the world.
