Dan is founder and CEO of LandScan based in Davis, California. LandScan’s site characterization and analysis technology represents over 20 years of experience deploying mapping systems across 6 continents. LandScan technology represents the next generation of technology that was globally licensed to John Deere (2001-2008) then acquired by Trimble (2013). Dan has generated, acquired, and licensed dozens of patents in multiple countries pertaining to sensors and environmental characterization, analysis, and monitoring. He has a B.S. in Rangeland Ecology and Management and an M.S. in Soil Physics both from Texas A&M University and a Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in Environmental Monitoring (Remote Sensing). In his spare time Dan enjoys trail hiking, fishing, and travel, sometimes alone and sometimes with his wife and two children, but always with his dog.
