Unreasonable Mentors
David Barron
Co-founder The Chai Spot & Otaq Peace Suites
David is an Unreasonable Mentor. David has participated in 2 programs, including Unreasonable GOALS 2018, and has advised over 29 Unreasonable companies.
David is a social entrepreneur, hospitality founder, and peace-builder whose work sits at the intersection of culture, business, and human connection.
In 2015, David and his wife Khalida Brohi opened America’s first South Asian tea house in Sedona, Arizona. What began as a deeply personal response to the fear, anger, and division their marriage stirred within their families, communities and nations, has grown into a mission-driven enterprise built around one simple idea: strangers, friends, and even perceived adversaries can meet each other differently over a cup of chai.
That vision became The Chai Spot — a vibrant, welcoming space where South Asian hospitality, artisan craft, and social impact come together. In 2018, David and Khalida expanded to Manhattan, bringing their message of connection and kindness to a wider audience.
Over the past decade, David and Khalida have woven a powerful tapestry of love, respect, and collaboration between Pakistan and the United States, while supporting underserved communities, women entrepreneurs, and youth education in Pakistan.
Their broader vision now includes Otaq Peace Suites, an immersive hospitality concept that invites guests into the warmth, beauty, and generosity of South Asian culture through an overnight experience.
David's expertise spans real estate, tax law, immigration law, commercial food service and hospitality regulation, construction, and property renovation. Earlier in his career, he worked as a solutions consultant for Dell, serving Fortune 100 companies. He holds a master’s degree in logic systems and computer science from Boston University.
Beyond business, David is a writer and thinker with a deep interest in mathematics, philosophy, and the nature of social reality. He is also a seasoned outdoorsman and river guide.
