Unreasonable Mentors
Emily Weitz
Spreads joy through yoga and amplifies stories through the written word
Emily is an Unreasonable Mentor. Emily was part of Project Literacy Lab 2017, and has advised over 13 Unreasonable companies.
Emily started as an intern at a local newspaper and grew her freelance portfolio organically, as her life grew. Writing was a tool to experience the world, to watch, to listen, to learn and to share. She used to record her journeys in beautiful bound books, but now she posts them online for the world to see. She's always seen herself as a magnifying glass with a microphone: her goal is to find the stories that deserve to be told, and to shout them out to the world.
Emily found yoga as a personal way to connect to herself, but her love of words gave her the instruments she needed to articulate this connection to others. The more she shared yoga, the more stories opened up to her. The word yoga means "to connect", and words connect us across continents when the physical body is out of reach. She now enjoys the symbiotic relationship between writing and teaching yoga, and the ways that these two practices have the potential to connect us all.
