A senior partner at law firm Foot Anstey, Ian has over 35 years’ industry experience, including senior management and technical experience outside of the legal sector. Driven by this strong, industry-based operational understanding of contracting and delivery issues, Ian has a thorough understanding of the challenges that high-value, technically complex energy projects might present. 

Ian's experience in projects, energy and natural resources is vast, from the evolution in the UK and across Europe from fossil fuels to low carbon fuel sources and modernisation of coal and gas fire generating assets, through early solar pv and CSP, in batteries and energy storage on UK's first and largest EFR, FFR and behind-the-meter battery projects, to nuclear decommissioning and new nuclear build. 

Prior to joining Foot Anstey, was a partner at an international law firm and based in the City of London, heading a team working on some of the largest infrastructure and energy projects in the UK and around the World.
