James Rhodes is CEO and Co-founder of Magnuss, a maritime clean technology firm that develops wind-based propulsion to reduce fuel consumption and emissions, supporting the de-carbonization of the shipping industry. Mr. Rhodes brings over 30 years of experience in maritime shipping, renewable energy, project development, investment banking and management consulting. He is responsible for managing the overall operations and resources of the firm, including strategy, corporate development, finance, customer engagement and investor relations. A veteran executive and maritime entrepreneur, Mr. Rhodes is the co-inventor of the Magnuss VOSS™ (Vertically-variable Ocean Sail System). He is a frequent speaker at industry events and has authored numerous articles on sustainable energy, shipping technology and the global carbon markets. Prior to establishing Magnuss in 2011, Mr. Rhodes was COO of GE/AES GHG Services, a joint venture between GE and AES, and its US carbon business. He holds an M.B.A. with distinction from Columbia Business School and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University.
