John was a member of the leadership team which transformed Pearson from a media conglomerate to the world’s leading digital learning company. Joining the company in 1997, he was appointed CEO in October 2012. Over the next eight years, he led Pearson through a major digital transformation by focusing on three principles: outcomes, affordability, and the learner experience. He now has a portfolio career, spanning the worlds of business, education, and international development. He is a senior adviser at McKinsey, the global consultancy, a board adviser to Bleinheim Chalcott, the UK’s leading digital venture builder and adviser/investor to a range of education technology start-ups. He is Professor of Practice at Northeastern University, which is building a global university system, and an executive fellow at London Business school, writing and teaching on digital transformation and leadership.  He also chairs the UK based charity, WarChild, which works to ensure a safe future for every child living through war.
