Kirstie Mackey, OBE

Kirstie Mackey OBE drives Barclays’ Citizenship approach across the UK and Europe, leading how the bank delivers lasting impact—unlocking opportunity through skills development, financial confidence, and business growth.

At the heart of this approach there are three flagship programmes. Kirstie created and launched Barclays LifeSkills in 2013, a pioneering initiative that has supported millions of individuals across the UK to build the transferable skills, confidence, and knowledge they need to enter and progress in work. Unreasonable Impact, a partnership with Unreasonable Group, which helps high-growth ventures to scale and address global issues. And the Military & Veterans Outreach programme which provides tailored support for the Armed Forces community, enabling service leavers, veterans, and military families to transition successfully into civilian employment or grow their own businesses.

To extend the reach and impact of these programmes, Kirstie also leads on building strategic partnerships with expert charities across the UK and Europe and colleague engagement, where Barclays colleagues volunteer their time, skills, and expertise and raise millions each year for causes they care about.

In recognition of her services to young people and financial services, Kirstie was awarded an OBE in 2020.
