LORNE RUBIS
Lorne Rubis has more than 50 years of culture, leadership, and transformation experience in various C Suite roles at organizations throughout North America and Europe. He currently advises CEOs from start-ups to well-established, large corporations in both the private and public sectors. Furthermore, as the Co-Founder of Belongify.com and CulturGenix.com he is totally invested in finding ways of advancing human-first workplaces.
A little more about Lorne: Along with being listed in the Global Gurus Top 30 since inception, in 2020, Lorne was included on the HRD Global 100 List. He was awarded the 2018 Canadian Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions to the Human Resource community and advancing the workplace. Lorne is also a mentor and investor with the Unreasonable Group and a retired board member of Fortis Alberta Inc.
He received an education degree from the University of Alberta (where he played Golden Bears football) and started his career as a teacher. He then completed a Master of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations at the University of Oregon, co-founded an Alberta-based business that flourished for 10 years and was eventually recruited to work in the US. During his 25 years based in America, he held a variety of executive positions, including working directly for the Chairman and CEO of a Fortune 50 company (US WEST), COO of a NASDAQ technology company (ZONES), and VP of Operations with the Los Angeles Kings. For 10 years, Lorne was the CEO of two privately held companies, one with subsidiaries in North America and one in Europe. A pinnacle career experience also included being the Chief People Officer at ATB Financial, recognized by the Great Places to Work organization as the number one place to work in Canada. He is a dual citizen of Canada and the U.S.
Lorne teaches courses on Culture and HR strategy at the U of Alberta EMBA program and as an Instructor, Professional, and Executive Development at Harvard Division of Continuing Education. Lorne and his wife Kathleen (his high school prom date) divide their time between residences in Alberta and British Columbia (where they grow Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris grapes). Their everyday mission is to regularly and joyfully connect with their three adult children and four grandkids who live in the U.S. and Canada.
