Mia is an Unreasonable Mentor.
Mia divides her time between personal meditation practices, advocacy for incarcerated communities, environmental nonprofit work, her deep connection to the planet’s last wild places, and her storytelling career.
She has established a notable presence in the world of acting, making her mark in both independent and mainstream film, in Hollywood and Latin America. At the same time, she has built a strong career as a documentary producer, with credits including her role as co-producer of the National Geographic, DGA-nominated Into the Okavango. Currently, she is collaborating with acclaimed director Jeff Orlowski on a documentary inspired by Brian Muraresku’s groundbreaking book, The Immortality Key.
Mia’s cinematic journey began with a standout debut in Carlos Saura’s Tango, a film that received both Golden Globe and Academy Award nominations for Best Foreign Film. Her diverse filmography includes The Motorcycle Diaries, Frida, Savages, Poseidon, Secuestro Express, The Holy Girl, After His Death, and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 & 2. On television, she has starred in The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro, Alias, and most recently, Extrapolations, the Apple+ climate change anthology opposite Ed Norton.
Since 2018, she has been an active member of Healing Dialogue and Action, leading mindfulness circles in Southern California’s level 4 prisons and juvenile halls. She also serves as an ambassador for the Surfrider Foundation and the Indigenous Medicine Fund.
