Michael Jenkins

Former Chief Technology Officer of Zayo Group's transport business group, a global provider of communications infrastructure services

Michael is an Unreasonable Mentor. Michael has participated in 2 programs, including Shell StartUp Engine UK 2021, and has advised over 24 Unreasonable companies.
Bringing more than 25 years experience in the telecoms industry to Zayo, Michael is currently responsible for technology, engineering and capacity planning for Zayo's global network.
Before joining Zayo, Michael deployed submarine and terrestrial networks throughout the world for carriers such as Level 3 Communications, PCCW in Hong Kong, Telstra in Australia, and Tata Communications in Singapore.
His significant career achievements include the design and installation of one of the world's first private protected fiber rings; the first optical interface onto the public internet at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories; and the design and engineering of more than 50 data centers and cable landing stations around the world.
Michael serves on the board of the University of Colorado's Engineering college. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Arts & Science from the University of Nebraska, majoring in Computer Science and Human Factors. He also received a Master’s of Science degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
