Unreasonable Mentors

Mo Siegel

Owner, Capital Peaks Investments

Mo is an Unreasonable Mentor.
I started Celestial Seasonings Tea Company in 1970 at 20 years old. After years of struggle and hard work, Celestial became the largest specialty tea company in North America. The company was started with $500 seed capital and became a pioneer in the natural foods industry. In 1984 we sold Celestial to Kraft Foods and bought it back in 1988 when Phillip Morris Tobacco Company bought Kraft Foods. The company went public in 1993, and in 2000 merged with Hain to become Hain Celestial, and the largest provider of natural foods in North America. I've served on 22 boards of profit and non profit organizations including 14 years at Whole Foods Market. My business values are that companies should consciously serve their stakeholders while making profit. Making money is not enough. Father of 5, grandfather of 7, visited 100 countries, mountain climber, biker, reader, and spiritual seeker. Best of all, I married above my station in life to the finest person I know.
