By education, my qualification is B.SC (Hon), MBA. I have research experience of 18 years during which period I travelled all over India. My work panned agriculture, forestry, rural energy, rural development, etc. I believe that there are simple out-of-the-box solutions to complex problems and edible cutlery is one example. Having developed this, I changed my course from researcher to entrepreneur. Edible cutlery provides the much needed respite from the plastic disposable, goes further to help the farmers get good market for their produces (edible cutlery are made of flours kneaded with plain water, shaped into cutlery and baked). These contain no chemicals, synthetic additives or preservatives. These can be eaten up and if you don’t want to eat, just throw them on ground and these will disintegrate within 3-4 days (provided dogs, squirrels and other stray animals do not eat them sooner). It took me 9 years to develop this idea in an enterprise, which gave me scope to learn several more new skills - engineering designs and developing technology to mass produce these, bring the costs to affordable levels, create awareness about my product lines, develop market and now working towards expansion of capacities.
