Paris Smalls

Dr. Paris Smalls is a pioneering leader in renewable energy innovation and an accomplished geophysicist. He earned his PhD in Geophysics from MIT in June 2023, where he conducted groundbreaking research as a member of the Einstein Rock Mechanics Group, focusing on using high-voltage electricity to “break rocks” and replace hydraulic fracturing, enabling stimulation in regions where water scarcity is a significant challenge. This technology can be used to sustainably increase the production of geothermal energy, geologic hydrogen, and other subsurface resources.

Dr. Smalls is the Founder, President, and CEO of Eden, and leads the development of Eden’s “Electrical Reservoir Stimulation” technology and the company’s go-to-market strategy. Recognized for his entrepreneurial acumen and scientific contributions, he has received numerous accolades, including Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Young Millionaires” 2020 edition and Forbes 30 Under 30–Energy in 2021. A passionate advocate for renewable energy, Dr. Smalls frequently speaks at institutions in the Greater Boston region about the role of geothermal and sustainable subsurface energy in achieving the United Nation’s 2050 decarbonization goals.
