As Chairperson of environmental organization JUCCCE, Peggy Liu is one of the leading accelerators in China of systemic change in diets, sustainable cities, sustainable consumerism and smart grid. Her core focus now is on Food Heroes, a play-based curriculum for K-3rd grade children and their families on personal and planetary health. Peggy is also: a board member of Drawdown, the most comprehensive plan to reverse global warming, and the Hillary Institute on climate change leadership; the founder of PhoenixRisen.org against sexual violence; a Professor at China Academy of Governance; an advisor for EAT Forum, FTSE Environmental Markets Committee; a recurring judge for The Circulars at Davos (circular economy) and the Hult Prize (social enterprise). Peggy was named a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader, Foreign Policy's shaper of US-China relations, the Hillary Step for climate change solutions, a Time Magazine Hero of the Environment, one of China’s top 50 innovative business leaders by China Business News Weekly. Prior to JUCCCE, she was a venture capitalist, an Internet pioneer in Silicon Valley heading one of the earliest e-commerce companies, a consultant at McKinsey, a software product manager. She is a graduate of MIT in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and Harvard Kennedy School.
