Unreasonable Mentors

Raman Sethi

Digital Propositions, Product and Innovation (with strategic BD experience)

Raman is an Unreasonable Mentor. Raman was part of Unreasonable Impact UK 2017, and has advised over 11 Unreasonable companies.
Raman graduated with an honours degree in Electroacoustics in 1995 and began his career that summer designing hands-free loudspeakers and microphones for the likes of Sony, Nokia, Ericsson and Siemens. A move out of engineering and into product marketing and product management quickly followed with subsequent roles at small companies and start-ups in the home audio and software sectors. A move to Sony Europe followed, creating new internal digital businesses focussed on bringing new propositions to market that connected Sony's digital content to its Sony Ericsson, Playstation, Walkman, VAIO and BRAVIA devices eco-system. Following Sony, Raman led the business development in Europe for Cisco's Consumer business, focussing on smart home, connected living and digital content, digital distribution, licensing and partnerships. From there, Raman led the mobile contactless payment product and proposition at EE - the largest mobile network operator in the UK - successfully launching the first mobile branded NFC payment wallet in the UK. The last 5 years has seen Raman at Barclays where he has led teams to define and launch award-winning mobile payments propositions to both consumers and corporate clients, with volumes growing 10-fold over a 3 year period. In the last year, Raman, as Head of Mobile Payment Innovation, has been focussing on setting up a team and operating model to experiment with Voice interfaces, APIs and the Internet of Things and their application to mobile payments.
