I have been a thought-partner on organizational change, leadership, merger integration, and transformation with prominent private, non-profit, and public-sector executives for over thirty years and am now an Emeritus Partner of Schaffer Consulting in Stamford, Connecticut. I'm also an advisor to the Rapid Results Institute, a non-profit spinoff from Schaffer Consulting that accelerates the pace of social impact projects,
I've written numerous articles for the Harvard Business Review and am the author of Simply Effective: How to Cut Through Complexity in Your Organization and Get Things Done (Harvard Business Press, 2009) and the co-author of four other books including The Boundaryless Organization and The GE Work-Out. My most recent book (co-authored with Brook Manville) is the Harvard Business Review Leader’s Handbook which was published in November, 2018. I've been an Executive in Residence at the Haas Business School of UC Berkeley, focusing on start-ups, and have graduate degrees from Harvard and Case Western Reserve.
