Ryan Shanks

I lead growth and partnerships for the Irish Management Institute (IMI), an accredited organisation that has been developing leadership and management capabilities for nearly 75 years. I joined the IMI after 30 years in management consulting, having shaped and delivered transformation programs and innovation in the public and private sectors; from transforming supply chains in high tech, to establishing new operating models in the public sector; and from developing new revenue streams in the “connected home”, to delivering leadership development programs in the construction and retail sectors. My work as focussed on how to make “unconventional collaborations” work as we address multi-stakeholder challenges such as energy transitions, resilient supply chains or circular economies.

I have established and ran a number of organisations over the years and built multi-disciplinary teams united by a focus on value. Furthermore, I've held innovation leadership positions on Accenture’s EMEA Management Committee and Global Leadership Council.

I am a US, Swedish and Irish citizen with experience living and working across North America, Europe and Asia. In addition, I hold a Master’s degree in International Studies from Uppsala University.

I frequently join advisory groups and present at academic, government and business events on topics including the future of work, innovation, leadership, gender equality, and the role of arts and humanities in business.
