Sidney is a passionate engineer, manager and innovator with over 25 years’ experience in the upstream oil and gas industry. He has held senior management positions at AMEC and SPEX Group and been chairman of Energy North, the EIC Scottish Committee and the Oil & Gas UK Supply Chain Forum.
Sidney invented the ‘subsurface wellbore’ during the 1997-1998 oil price crisis and secured patent protection in 2002. Since then he has invented a number of new technologies and business processes. Through this Sidney has gained skills in innovation, intellectual property and technology commercialisation which he has applied in his work and to support and mentor start-up technology companies through the Oil & Gas Technology Centre, based in Aberdeen, Scotland.
