Stéphane Vernède
Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Enwise
Stephane Vernede is the CEO and Co-founder of Enwise, a cleantech company
pioneering solutions for the circular economy. Recognized as the 2021 Young Green
Tech Entrepreneur of the Year, Stephane leads the deployment of distributed green
power plants that convert organic waste into green fuel. His innovations assist major
global clients—including PepsiCo, Sinarmas, and Dohler, in reducing their carbon
footprints and achieving net-zero targets.
Prior to his entrepreneurial venture at Enwise, Stephane built a distinguished career
in industrial R&D and product management at Alcan. As a Research Team Leader and
Development Manager, he specialized in industrial process, playing a pivotal role in
developing advanced simulation models to solve complex process challenges. His
work successfully bridged the gap between fundamental research and industrial
application across France and China.
Stephane holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the Swiss Federal Institute of
Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), where he was awarded the 2008 Prof. R. Wasserman
Prize for the best research work in the field. A distinguished researcher, his work has
been featured in Science, and his portfolio includes 11 published articles and 12
patents.
With multidisciplinary expertise spanning materials engineering, data analysis, and
anaerobic digestion systems, Stephane is a recognized thought leader and frequent
speaker on bioenergy and sustainable industrial innovation.
