Thomas Baker

Thomas Baker has spent his career at the frontier of AI and hardware, from experimental airships and orbital spacecraft to foundation model agents. He is co-founder and CTO of Goldstar AI and AI Research Faculty at Harvard Business School, where he works with Prof. Karim Lakhani on how enterprises turn AI into measurable ROI. At HBS he co-designed and led Founder Lab, the school's inaugural eight-day intensive for incoming MBA founders, and he serves as Head of Technical Strategy for the INSEAD AI Venture Lab, where he runs AI founder sprints.

Thomas began his career in semiconductors at Western Digital and ON Semiconductor, working on Mil/Aero satellite R&D, while leading a 40-student team to build a full-scale Hyperloop pod for the SpaceX competition. At LTA Research, he led propulsion, avionics, and structural development for large-scale experimental airships. At Blue Origin he led new vehicle design and Orbital Reef payload development, then the Advanced Concepts Team, where he built AI tooling for spacecraft design, manufacturing, and propulsion development. As CTO of Applied General Intelligence, he developed an agent that briefly held the top position on the MMLU-Pro benchmark. His recent research includes Loyal Agents, a benchmark for AI agent fiduciary behavior with Consumer Reports and Stanford's Digital Economy Lab.

At MIT, Thomas leads weekly AI hackathons and works with the PKG Center on technology for social impact, including early childhood education with the Indaba Foundation in South Africa. He is a Technical Fellow at Type One Ventures. Based in Boston, Thomas works with founders on technical strategy, AI deployment, scaling hardware, and building the teams to execute. When he's not doing that, he's usually sailing.
