Travis Barnes is the Global Co-Head of Capital Markets and the former Global Head of Financial Sponsors Group & Sustainable and Impact Banking at Barclays. Formerly he served as the Co-Head of Global Debt Capital Markets and Risk Solutions Group for the Investment Bank at Barclays. He has over 20 years experience in the banking industry.
Travis joined Barclays in 2006 as a Director in Debt Capital Markets and was promoted to Managing Director two years later. He was named Head of Financial Institutions Debt Capital Markets in 2012, responsible for the coverage of financial institutions in the US, including all sectors within the insurance, bank and specialty finance industries. Travis was named Co-Head of the Debt Capital Markets and Risk Solutions Group for the Americas in 2014, before assuming his current global responsibilities in 2016. Travis was promoted to the role of Travis is currently of Global Head of Financial Sponsors Group & Sustainable and Impact Banking in 2021 and he also serves as the Chair of Barclays’ Americas Citizenship Council and Male Allies Network. He is a member of the Americas Banking Operating Committee and WiN Steering Committee. Previously, he served as ex-officio on the Banking Executive Forum and Chairman of the Embrace Diversity Network.
Prior to Barclays, Travis worked at Morgan Stanley, undertaking roles in the US and Asia, with various investment banking roles in Debt Capital Markets, Corporate Finance and M&A, focusing mainly on financial institutions. Travis graduated summa cum laude with a BA in Economics and English from Lafayette College. He served on the Board of Trustees for the City and Country School in New York City. Travis lives with his wife Ramona and two sons (Kai and Miko) and daughter in New York City.
