Compact Membrane Systems, Inc. (CMS) has created a near-term, low-risk, low-cost path to decarbonizing hard-to-abate sectors and removing gigatons of cumulative CO2 from the atmosphere at less than $50 per ton.

The company has developed a portfolio of decarbonization solutions using its advanced membrane technology: first in bolt-on applications for petrochemical plants and now expanding to a range of carbon capture applications, including steel, cement, and chemicals.

CMS's durable and effective membrane technology captures CO2 with drastically lower energy usage and smaller footprints than existing separation technologies on the market. Leveraging over two decades of membrane tech development and expertise honed in the company's 10,000 sqft lab in Wilmington, Delaware, CMS's products enable the equitable creation of the materials we use while preserving the planet we need.

Notable Achievements

  • Raised $16.5 million Series A
  • Demonstration of the technology in the field within a Braskem facility
  • 3 carbon capture pilots announced in steel, kiln processes, and chemicals
