Daniel Betts
Founder & CEO at Blue Frontier
Dr. Daniel Betts is the CEO, Board Member, and co-founder of Blue Frontier, a South Florida based Cleantech company developing ultra-efficient air conditioning systems with integrated energy storage capabilities. Under his direction Blue Frontier has gone from laboratory to first commercial product. In the process Dr. Betts has established partnerships with investors and strategic organizations including raising $47.8MM in venture capital equity financing led by Bill Gates’ Breakthrough Energy Ventures, 2150VC, and VoLo Earth Ventures. Blue Frontier has won many industry-leading accolades such as being named a “2023 Climate Tech Company To Watch” by MIT Technology Review, a Finalist for the 2024 AHR Innovation Award, Bloomberg NEF Pioneer Award, and 2024 Innovation of the Year Award, by the South Florida TechHub. In 2024 Dr. Betts was recognized as Distinguished Entrepreneur by Florida Atlantic University.
Dr. Betts has worked in the energy technology and advanced energy systems space since 1997 and has been an executive in three different Cleantech startups: EnerFuel, Inc. (fuel cell, hydrogen, and fuel cell-battery systems for transportation and stationary applications), Be Power Tech (integrated heat and cooling systems), and Blue Frontier, Inc. He has also worked as a strategic consultant in support of innovation initiatives for Jabil Circuit, Caterpillar, Ford, and Research Triangle Institute (RTI). Dr. Betts is also a prolific inventor with over 20 patents.
Dr. Betts has a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and thermal sciences from the University of Florida. He also holds an MBA from the same school. His undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering was obtained from George Washington University in Washington, DC.
