David is a TED speaker, XPRIZE winner and biologist. He founded General Biotechnologies with a belief that programming biology will be the next frontier of manufacturing.
At 11, he became one of the youngest in the UK to sit two GCSEs in Maths and Astronomy and obtain top grades. He was awarded an academic scholarship to a boarding school and went on to study Medicine at Oxford, where he developed an interest in biotech while working on malaria vaccines at the Jenner Institute. David commissioned as a reserve officer in the Parachute Regiment during medical school, before serving for a year as a doctor. He has worked in remote parts of Central Africa with Christian hospitals, and now combines his passion for Health and synthetic biology as an entrepreneur. David has broad interests and has published 10+ papers in vaccines, genetics and cell biology.
