David is an Unreasonable Fellow. David was part of Unreasonable Impact UK & Europe 2025.
David is a TED speaker, recipient of Elon Musk's XPRIZE award, and CEO of CyanoCapture, a San Francisco and Oxford–based company using genetic engineering to convert CO₂ into drug molecules. He has led the company from winning government-backed biological carbon capture contracts to becoming a pharmaceutical business focused on sustainably manufacturing oral peptide medicines.
He commissioned from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst as a reservist Army Officer in the Parachute Regiment and later served as a resident doctor in the British Army, as well as with Christian medical organisations in the Democratic Republic of Congo. David was among the youngest in the UK to sit GCSE Maths at age 11, subsequently earning a boarding school scholarship, and later completed his medical degree at Christ Church, University of Oxford. He has broad scientific interests and has co-authored ten papers and patents spanning vaccine immunology and cyanobacterial genetics.
