Jo is an Unreasonable Mentor.
Jo Barnard is a British industrial designer and entrepreneur, renowned for her contributions to sustainable product design and innovation. In 2015, at the age of 24, she founded Morrama, a London-based strategy, design and innovation consultancy. Under her leadership, Morrama has developed products for brands that have collectively raised over $20 million in investment and sold tens of millions of units worldwide.
Jo's approach to the creative process is focused on storytelling and leveraging behaviour change. She is the champion of sustainability within Morrama, running workshops and implementing systemic changes within the client's businesses she works with.
Beyond Morrama, Jo has co-founded several ventures, including Kibu; a circular kids-tech brand, and Eco-Flo Innovations; a company focused on plastic-free diagnostics. In 2022, she co-founded Design Declares, a not-for-profit community-based initiative encouraging designers and design businesses to commit to climate action, which has since expanded globally.
Jo is also an author, having written the Sustainable Design Handbook and co-authored the Startup Guide: Taking a Product to Market. She has served as an Associate Lecturer at the Royal College of Art for four years and is an active mentor and speaker on topics such as sustainability and the future of design. Her work has been featured in BBC CEO Secrets, WIRED, and TechRound, and she has been recognised as one of the top 10 women to watch in tech and STEM.
